Art Meets Art!

From January 13th - February 20th, Epcot host this amazing and creative festival. This is easily taken the place for number 1 on my list of events that Epcot has to offer. As of today I’ve only been twice, but I plan on heading out way more before February 20th.

Not only is there outstanding food that is presented through it’s own work of art, but this festival offers many booths with opportunities to purchase works of art from  amazing artist that feature Disney characters. However, the creative mini dishes are what I love most!

Here’s our 1st stop!

DECADENT DELIGHTS

White Chocolate and Purple Sweet Potato Mousse, Salted Caramel and Maple Meringue with Coconut – $6.50

This is by far one of my favorite desserts at ANY of the Epcot’s festivities. It has such a light and airy, flavorful taste. Nothing is over powering and the unique flavors blend so well!

S’mores Tart: House-smoked Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Mousse, Toasted Marshmallow Meringue, Graham Cracker Dust and Malted Milk Chocolate Sauce – $6.50

My sister really enjoyed this treat. If you’re a chocolate lover this is for you! The cake inside is super dense and mousse is so fluffy, the two make a perfect pair.

DECONSTRUCTED DISH

Deconstructed Reuben with Shredded Corned Beef, Thousand Island Dressing, Pickled Red Cabbage and a Rye Curl – $6.50

A true piece of art! The corned beef was amazing. Although the meat to cabbage ratio was off for my liking. Way to much cabbage. The dots of sauce on the plate help create this awesome visual but are way too spicy for me.

Deconstructed BLT with Crispy Pork Belly, Tomato Jam and Soft Poached Egg – $6.75

This was one of my favorite savory dishes from the festival! So good. It tasted a lot more like breakfast rather than a BLT. There was no lettuce but they added an egg? Not sure about their tactic behind this vision but it sure was delicious!

MOSAIC CANTEEN

Mediterranean Flat Bread with Zaatar, Olive Oil Artichoke, Olives, Mozzarella and Feta Cheese – $8.00

Such a flavorful dish! This is a huge portion for the price. Round 2 is a must for this dish.

Chebbakia: Hand-twisted Strips of Fried Dough coated with Honey, Rosewater and Sesame Seeds – $7.00

These ingredients had me in a heart beat but the actual dish wasn’t my favorite. It’s overly sweet and I couldn’t finish both because of that factor.

L’ART DU CUISINE FRANCAISE

Rillettes du Mans, Cornichons, Carré du Boulanger: House-made Pork Rillettes, Cornichons and House-made Bread – $8.75

Alright, so the pickles were great! The can was dense and dry but had the consistency of a chicken salad or tuna. As for the bread, I was thinking it would be like a biscuit or a corn bread, but it was very tough and didn’t really have a flavor. France was a no-go on the food.

NOT PICTURED

Frosé: Frozen Côtes de Provence Rosé Wine with Grey Goose Vodka and Peach Purée – $11.00

Amazing as always! I’m a fan of frozen drinks and this one was delicious.

CUISINE CLASSIQUE

Seared Corvina with braised Ratatouille and Lemon-Thyme Beurre Blanc – $7.50

Outstanding dish! Fish was cooked perfectly with great flavor from the ratatouille. The portion was slightly small for how much it costs.

Saint-Honore Tart: Caramel Cream Tart with Caramel Glaze topped with Cream Puffs – $6.00

My sister favorite dessert! I’m a huge fan of Carmel and I think this was spot on. The best part about this plate was the cream puffs. This is a MUST TRY!

THE PAINTED PANDA

Coconut Panda Rice Cake – $5.00

Who knew rice could be so adorable! They even sell the kit so that you can make this rice panda at home. Although it was cute, it was just a ball of rice.....

Crystal Mooncake with Fruit Filling, garnished with Toasted Coconut – $9.75

Visually stunning! Beautiful colors. I really thought I’d like this one... After cutting into this cake, the outter mold was similar to the mochi texture but VERY thick and chewy. I thought I’d look past that and go for the fruit filling which was okay. It had a dense taste of pretty much just pineapple with shredded coconut in a jelly like consistency. I could not finish this.

Crispy Fried Shrimp in a Wonton Chip Lotus Flower – $8.50

This dish was a little disappointing. The tiny fried shrimp were a little dry and when you added two huge wonton chips it really loses  its character. This just tasted really crunchy all around, there wasn’t really a balance of anything.

POP EATS

Sous Vide Poulet Rouge Chicken Roulade with Apples and Sage served with Warm Brie Fondue, Blueberry and Beet Gel and garnished with Apple and Beet Chips (GF) – $6.50

AMAZING! All the flavors were so unique that I was worried what it would actually taste like but I was in love with this dish. A wonderful portion size as well for the price. This was my moms favorite dish!

Pop’t Art: Modern-design Sugar Cookie with Strawberry Filling – $4.25

YES, I just paid $4.25 for a pop tart and it was the BEST pop tart I’ve ever had. I’m a big fan of cookie frosting and it was so good. The filling was really fresh tasting and the cookie wasn’t too crunchy. Replace Poptarts from Publix on the shelf with these  and I’ll buy you out!

THE MASTERPIECE KITCHEN

Pictured on the top - Smoked Salmon Tartare, Caviar, Crisp Lavash and Traditional Accompaniments – $12.00

The of caviar made this very salty, but that is expected. Overall it was a great dish! Portion was a little small for the price.

Pictured on the bottom - Wild Mushroom Risotto, Aged Parmesan, Truffle Shavings and Zinfandel Reduction – $9.00

HUGE portion! Amazing flavors. I was able to split this with three people. Very well done!

The food is just one amazing factors of this creative festival has to offer. If you’ve never been, I HIGHLY suggest going. You will not be disappointed! The Festival celebrates three artistic disciplines: Culinary, Visual, and Performing Arts. The chance to visit is NOW, January 13th - February 20th!

If you can’t find me, I’ll be there! See ya real soon!
